The Umbrella of NS Brand, with Nnenna-Simone Kalu
Originating from Baltimore, MD, and now expanded to Atlanta, Georgia, Nnenna-Simone Kalu took her self-caring passion for beauty and skincare to single-handedly create NS Beauty, the investment that created NS Brand.
Under the umbrella of the NS Brand, you’ll find NS Beauty, the lash beauty bar, NS Hair, the one-stop shop for hair extensions, and NS Kosmetics, the skincare line. It's a detailed web, each with its unique facets that employ Kalu’s characteristics and journey. In 2020, CEO Nnenna-Simone Kalu founded NS Beauty, a beauty bar specializing in lash services. With the vision mapped out for wanting to own an empire, Kalu knew she had to start small, mastering one industry before she expanded her offerings. NS Beauty was what she considered her “bread and butter for the past four years” of her entrepreneurial journey and played a crucial role in funding the investments into her other brands.
The Big Move
At the peak of her business career in Baltimore, MD, Nnenna-Simone Kalu left everything behind, taking a leap of faith to move to Atlanta, Georgia. Her goal was to expand her business and apply the successful hustle she knows from her previous achievements. Kalu emphasized her desire to move to Atlanta was not only to expand her vision but the reputation of black-owned businesses thriving in the city. The atmosphere of being around successful business owners and CEOs every day was enough to inspire her to keep grinding to reach a peak in her business in a new environment.
Kalu integrates her business into her lifestyle, organizing orders, and shipments, while traveling twice a month back and forth to Baltimore from Atlanta in effort to sustain her clientele. She expressed acquiring discipline due to her multitude of responsibilities that must be prioritized. Although her job doesn't involve traditional clocking in and reporting to a corporate-level boss, the path she's paved to earn her income exposed her to both hard and soft skills she never thought she could acquire independently. “I’m honestly still learning my flow. I can have NS Everything. Every single thing you look at can be NS and I can do that, but I can’t think about that right now… I’m thinking about sustaining every foundation and building each brand,” said Nnenna-Simone Kalu. Kalu's strategic approach to her businesses reflects her passion for crafting and self-improvement. Her business serves as both a personal journey and an inspiration for others to realize their full potential and embark on their unique paths to success.
Her Gifted Gab says…
Self-made entrepreneurs and innovators, like Nnenna, often find purpose and fulfillment in creating solutions and experiences that benefit others beyond personal gain. It's a calling driven by a desire to make a meaningful impact on others' lives. Then, if you’re really good at what you do you can go big rather than go home. Why have one business when you can have two? Look at your two sources of income and figure out how you can develop a third, or maybe we can just leave that up to her! Nnenna definitely filled the atmosphere with a commanding executive energy, an independent one at that. The skill set from learning what it takes to fulfill your needs and passion is taking a lot of us far in our crafts and I’m looking forward to seeing NS Brand become the IT person brand that reaches the highest volume of diverse consumers all attached to her offerings.
