Welcome to my portfolio! Here, you'll discover my projects from undergraduate coursework, internships, and blogging. These pieces highlight the skills and knowledge I've acquired while earning my bachelor's degree in Public Relations, along with my journey as a media creative. Through courses such as Professional Writing, PR Strategy, and Journalism Writing, I've developed a strong foundation. My passion for writing, media, and storytelling shines through in each piece.

MEDIA PERSONALITY

MEDIA PERSONALITY

I began as the media personality for Fever Class, a D.M.V. organization that promotes ingenuity and collaboration among creative professionals. For several months leading up to Fever Class's Fashion show day, I immersed myself in understanding their team, mission, and the world of designers and influencers to effectively convey their essence. Being prepared for this role involved crafting cue cards for interviews and using my understanding to ask insightful questions, providing a platform for pivotal stories. This position is crucial for showcasing creative talent and engaging audiences through thorough research and preparation. Joining as a media personality has been a full-circle moment for me as a creative who started her own blog to represent DMV voices, now contributing to a company featured on local press outlets like The Washington Informer Bridge DC.

Social Media Analysis:

For my “Professional Writing” course, I wrote a rhetorical analysis on the social media presence of a business I’d like to learn more about and explained the ethos.

VCU Men’s Soccer Hype Video:

In my Sports Communication course, I created a hype video for the VCU Men’s Soccer team.

Interviews Conducted:

This video provides two examples of interviews I’ve conducted for my HerGiftedGab blog. The first interview was a cast interview featuring me asking the questions. In the second interview, I’m behind the camera letting the interviewee speak while the B-roll plays.
As part of my process, I conduct extensive research on the brand or individual and use my attention to detail to craft insightful questions. On interview day, I set up tripods, cameras, and lighting equipment. Once having all the footage I edit the videos using Adobe Premiere Pro or Rush to create a seamless view for the audience.

Here is an example of the research and notes paper I use to gather relevant research, background information, and a structured set of questions to ask the interviewee.

Interview Preparation and Research:

Press Release:

This press release was written for my previous internship at River City Roll, inviting the public to give back to the community while enjoying the World Cup watch party.

Leadership & Event Planning:

I demonstrated leadership by initiating the creation of Reignite and Roll with PR Students, a networking event designed to connect students with peers and industry leaders from PRSSA in Richmond, VA. The event's success involved sponsored food, scholarship information, internship opportunities, and most importantly, an increase in student relationships.
