DMV Photographer Bradley Adjei humbly opens up about his solo journey into the realm of photography and the passion that fuels his drive for success in the industry.

How do you differ from your competitors?
“I push original ideas out. I try to be as creative as I can. A lot of times people in my industry try to take inspiration and try to recreate the inspiration to a T. I rather take inspiration and take an element from it. That element that I see I let it inspire me to create something else. I like to put new work in the atmosphere. I feel as though my work stands out from my competitors because I am super creative in my work” replied Bradley Adjei.
How would you describe your work atmosphere and the people you work with?
“I would describe my atmosphere as youthful. Just a lot of focus on the youth and the black representation. That demographic is often overlooked in industries so in my work atmosphere I try to push that narrative of youthfulness and the black culture because we are the culture and we must be representative more often than we are” he replies.
What are the major qualifications for success in this occupation?
“So far I’ve learned that you have to be open to failing. I realized the more times I fail the more I learn rather than win. Also, you have to be great at networking and be open to criticism because when you create art that’s your most vulnerable self because you’re sharing it with the world. Be confident in what you do” he replies.

What stands out to me about Bradley Adjei and many other creatives who share their craft with the world is their emphasis on capturing the audience's attention with their work. In my interviews with individuals from diverse backgrounds, I consistently focus on a particular factor that resonates with me because I can relate. Deliberate and insightful, Adjei’s work speaks for itself. Behind detail is effort. Behind the effort is intention. From my understanding, Adjei’s creative expression not only serves as a means for him to showcase his artistic abilities but, more importantly, as a channel for the audience to comprehend and appreciate him as the creator. His work has a profound impact on people which I’ve observed through abundant support from his social media page.
